Bellingham, WA 5/12/08 – Bellingham TechNight - a one night job fair for local technology jobs will be held at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal in Bellingham on Tuesday, May 20 between 6 and 9PM. Organized by TAG - Technology Alliance Group for Northwest Washington in partnership with Logos Bible Software, Bellingham TechNight provides an opportunity for hiring technology companies to meet job seekers face-to-face.
The Bellingham TechNight will feature exhibits by sixteen participating companies. Examples of companies that will be participating in the event are 3D Corporation, BaySide USA, BIG Fresh Media, City of Bellingham, Dealer Information Systems Corporation, Emergency Reporting, Logos Bible Software, Roland Systems Group, Ryzex, SPIE, Sterling, TEKsystems, Toolhouse, Inc, Western Washington University - Academic Technology and User Services, as well as Whatcom Community College and the MIS program at Western Washington University. Participating companies are looking to fill positions in a variety of technology jobs at all different levels ranging from entry level to advanced positions, including jobs for programmers, network administrators, systems analysts, database administrators, technical support/help desk specialists, technical sales professionals, internships, and more.
The idea for the Bellingham TechNight came from Logos Bible Software, ranked as one of the fastest growing private technology companies in the nation by .Inc Magazine and they took the lead in organizing the first TechNight career fair last year on October 25, 2007. Due to the tremendous positive response from last year's participating employers and the 250 job seekers that attended the event we decided to host another Bellingham TechNight again in 2008, says Anna Ehnmark, Executive Director of TAG. This year TAG is taking the lead in organizing the event and the goal is to make this job fair part of our recurring programs. 'It is a natural fit with our goal to support the growth of the local technology sector', explains Anna Ehnmark.
The 'high tech' sector is not alone in recruiting information technology professionals and the job fair features employers from a variety of industries including organizations such as City of Bellingham, Sterling Life Insurance and Western Washington University's Academic Technology and User Services department.
Apart from connecting employers with job seekers, the goal of Bellingham TechNight is to raise the profile of local technology employers, and give job seekers, as well as people interested in a career move, a chance to learn about the opportunities that exist with local tech employers.
